Online (pre-recorded)

Dr McCall explores the Watt collection: correspondence to and from Aberdeen suffragette Caroline Philips, a selection of which are displayed in Gallery 14: Art of Empowerment. Our speaker considers Caroline Phillips within the wider context of women in Aberdeen in the early 20th century, glimpses of whose lives can be seen in Aberdeen Art Gallery.

Dr Alison McCall is a member of Aberdeen Women's Alliance History Group and a former chair of Women's History Scotland. She is one of the admins of the Mapping Memorials to Women in Scotland project. https://womenofscotland.org.uk/memorials

Her research focuses on women in Victorian Scotland, and she particularly enjoys researching women who were well known in their own lifetimes, but have since been forgotten.
