Talk by James Inglis, Curator (History)
Aberdeen’s proud history of shipbuilding spanned over 200 years. The Aberdeen Built Ships website is a significant record of over 3,000 vessels built in the city. It was created over a number of years by a dedicated team of volunteer experts using a wide range of sources, including shipbuilders’ yard lists, the library of Lloyd’s Register of Shipping, and the memories of local people associated with the shipyards of Aberdeen. Curator Jim Inglis discusses the importance of the Aberdeen Built Ships project and plans for its future.
