Aberdeen City Council collects the information you provide: name, address and date of birth, to allow us to process your Fixed Penalty Notice in relation to a dog fouling offence. The Council will share your personal information with our Debt Recovery team if after 28 days of issue the notice remains unpaid.

How long we keep your information for

We will keep your information for six years from the date of compliance with the Fixed Penalty Notice after which it will be destroyed.

See more information about all the rights you have, as well as contact details for the Council’s Data Protection Officer. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you think we haven’t handled your data properly.

Our legal basis

Aberdeen City Council is the Data Controller for the information you provide. Wherever we process personal information we have to make sure we have a basis for doing so in Data Protection Law. We understand our basis for enforcing penalty charges in relation to dog fouling offences as Articles 6(1) (c) and 6(1) (e) of the General Data Protection Regulation. This is because we carry out this activity as part of our public task and as a legal obligation under the Dog Fouling (Scotland) Act 2003.
