Your data: application for renting a garage, garage site or parking space

How we use your information

Aberdeen City Council collects the information about you in this form in order for you to apply for a garage, garage site, and parking space, to manage any tenancy that you may be offered, and to collect information about trends.

The information you provide for will be used for the following purposes:

  • To determine whether you are eligible for a garage, garage site, or parking space.
  • To determine the appropriate list your application will be added to and your priority on the list.
  • To assist and manage any allocation of suitable garage, garage site, or parking space.
  • To provide support to enable you to keep/maintain your garage, garage site, or parking space (for example for repairs, lock changes, or support if you are in arrears).

The information you provide may be shared with relevant Aberdeen City Council committees and sub committees, where necessary for taking decisions in respect of your application.

Any lease of a parking space, garage, or garage site is dependent on the relevant V5 form and insurance certificate being provided to verify the registered keeper of the vehicle and the insurance arrangements in place.

How long we’ll keep your information for

Following your application, your information will be stored electronically. Your information will remain in our system while you are on a waiting list for a garage, garage site, or parking space.

If you are allocated a garage, garage site, or parking space your records will be kept securely and regularly updated during your tenancy with Aberdeen City Council. Your records will be kept securely for 7 more years from the close of your tenancy, or the last acknowledgement of debt, or the most recent contact with housing services, whichever is later.

If, for any reason, you are no longer on the waiting list for a garage, garage site, or parking space we will retain your application information for a further 7 years from the time your name is taken off our waiting list.
