- in pay and display bays
- in disabled parking spaces
- on single and double yellow lines if it's safe to do so and there are no loading restrictions
How to pay
There are a number of different ways that you can pay for your parking:
Cashless parking
Cashless Parking is a convenient way to pay for parking using your mobile phone. All you need to do is to register with the service provider, PayByPhone, online, via the app or by calling 01224 440871.
You can then use the PaybyPhone app, website, or phone number to pay for parking. You will need to enter the location code, which is displayed on the signs on street and in car park or on the parking meters, and the duration of your stay.
You can also extend your parking session remotely, as long as you do not exceed the maximum stay limit of the area you are parked in. You will receive a confirmation text message and a receipt by email. You do not need to display a ticket on your dashboard, as the City Wardens will check your registration number electronically.

Telephone payments
You can also pay for your parking via telephone. To do so follow the instructions on the PaybyPhone website.
Parking meters
There are a number of parking meters at various locations across the city. You should have the correct coins available to pay for your parking as the machines do not provide change.
If our parking meters are not working, you can use cashless parking, call PayByPhone or pay at the nearest PayPoint.
Report parking meter faults
If a parking meter is faulty, please use another parking meter with the same tariff and purchase a parking ticket, or use PaybyPhone cashless parking. You can purchase your parking session using the PaybyPhone app on your smart device, online, or by phone. To register and pay for your parking, visit the PaybyPhone website, download the app or call 01224 510 510.
To report damage to a parking meter or any other fault, please use our online form. We will send someone to address the problem as soon as we can.
PayPoint
You can pay for parking by cash at any shop in Aberdeen displaying the PayPoint logo. There are over 100 Paypoint locations in convenience stores, newsagents, supermarkets, and petrol stations across Aberdeen.
Find your nearest PayPoint location
If you wish to pay for your parking at a PayPoint location, you should visit the nearest shop with a PayPoint logo and ask to pay for parking. You will have to give the retailer the following details:
- your vehicle registration,
- the 6 digit location code where your vehicle is parked (this is displayed on parking meters), and
- the time you wish to park for.
The cashier will process the fee and you can pay using any payment accepted in the store.
Please keep the receipt provided, as this gives proof of payment and details of the session booked.
There is no parking ticket to display, so you don't need to return to your vehicle.
