How we use your data
Aberdeen City Council collects your personal data in order to provide the European Passport Verification Service on behalf of the Home Office. We will process your information in order for you to make an appointment with us. When you attend the appointment we will photocopy your passport and forward the copy to the Home Office on your behalf along with your required original documents. We may share further information with the Home Office as is necessary to process your application. We also use your contact details to ask for feedback to help us improve our service.
How long we keep your information for
The information you have provided will be kept securely until it is sent to the Home Office. We will retain a copy of the documentation for the current year and another 3 years and then it will be securely disposed of.
Your rights

Our legal basis
Aberdeen City Council is the Data Controller for your information. Wherever we are processing personal information we need to make sure we have a legal basis in data protection law. The Council understands our legal basis for processing personal data for the purposes of European Passport Verification Service as Article 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation, as you are entering into a contract with us, or taking steps at pre-contract stage, for us to provide the service.
