Your data: streets and grounds maintenance requests and issues

How we use your information

Aberdeen City Council uses the information you provide to facilitate online access to streets and grounds maintenance services including reporting street cleaning and grounds maintenance issues, dangerous trees, and playpark and ground maintenance requests.

How long we keep your information for

We keep reports of problems with trees, fences, walls, railings and playpark equipment for five years from the date at which the case is closed.

We keep requests for bench repairs, graffiti removal, and needle or syringe removals for a period of three years from the date request cases are closed. Reports of damaged or missing lifebelts will also be retained for three years from the date the case is closed.

We keep reports of problems with floral displays, overgrown shrubs and hedges, requests for street cleaning, problems with drainage, street furniture, road signs, street lights, traffic lights or signals, weeds on road or pavement, and requests for the removal of litter, leaves, dirt or debris, or dead animals for  one year from the date the case is closed.

Your data will be stored on secure servers by our online customer service supplier and on servers maintained by Aberdeen City Council.

Your rights

You have rights to your data, including the right to ask for a copy of it. See more information about all of the rights you have. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office. That is the body responsible for making sure organisations like the Council handle your data lawfully.

Our legal basis

Aberdeen City Council is the Data Controller for this information. Wherever the Council processes personal data, we need to make sure we have a legal basis for doing so in data protection law. The Council understands our legal basis for processing personal data in relation to streets and ground maintenance as Article  6(1)(e) of the General Data Protection Regulation as this activity is part of our public task.
