How we use your information
Aberdeen City Council’s Family Information Service (FIS) provides free, comprehensive and up-to-date information and advice about all services for children, young people and their families in Aberdeen. We collect the information about your childminding service in order to add you to the FIS pages on the Aberdeen City Council website.
Enquirers will be able to view your information on the website and we will share your information with them request via phone or email. You can update or remove your information at any time by emailing fis@aberdeencity.gov.uk.
As childminders must be registered with the Care Inspectorate by law under the Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001, we will check your registration details with the Care Inspectorate before making your childminding service details available to enquirers.
From time to time the Council may wish to send you information that we think will be of use to you as a childminder. This may include information on training or national initiatives like Bookbug.
How long we keep your information for
We will keep your personal details for a period up to 6 months upon receiving a request that you no longer wish to have your details kept with the Family Information Service. We will keep an anonymised record of your service for statistical purposes for 5 years. Statistical information will be used to ensure that we are delivering the right services to meet the needs of children and families and to identify any gaps or issues in service delivery throughout the City.
