How we use your information
Aberdeen City Council aims to promote a safe and healthy environment in order to protect the public health of everyone living, working and visiting Aberdeen. If you contact us to register a complaint, to ask for our advice, or to request a pest control service we will keep a record of the information you give us, to allow us to carry out a comprehensive investigation of your service request.
If we have received information about you from a third party, we will use the information provided, and may gather more from internal services such as Housing, Council Tax and Private Sector Housing. The information we receive about you will include your name, your address, email address or telephone number if provided and the nature of your complaint. We need to process this information in order to deliver the service you have requested.
How long we will keep your information for
We will keep your information for ten years, after which time it will be deleted.
Your rights
You have rights in relation to your data, including the right to ask for a copy of it. See more information about all of the rights you have and how they work in practice as well as contact details for the Council’s Data Protection Officer. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Officer if you think we haven’t handled your data properly.
Our legal basis
Aberdeen City Council is the Data Controller for this information. Wherever we process personal information we have to make sure we have a basis for doing so in data protection law. We understand our legal basis for responding to complaints and providing advice as being part of our public task under Environmental Health and Health and Safety Legislation. Where we provide a pest control service, we understand our basis for processing your data as being necessary for delivery of service under a contract.
