How we use your information

Aberdeen City Council uses a platform hosted by Civica to process payments for a variety of purposes (for example paying taxes, paying rent, paying for childcare services, or paying for creative workshops). We will hold and/or computerise your personal details supplied on the form for the purpose of processing your payment. Some personal details will be disclosed to banks and other financial institutions in order to process the payment. We don’t share your data with anyone else.

How long we keep your information for

We will keep this information for the current financial year and a further six years. Our financial year runs April to March.

Your rights

You have rights in relation to your data, including the right to ask for a copy of it. See the Your data page for more information about all the rights you have, as well as the contact details for the Council’s Data Protection Officer. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office if you think we haven’t handled your data properly.

Our legal basis

We need to make sure we have a legal basis for doing so. The Council understands our legal basis for processing this information as Article 6(1)(e) of the General Data Protection Regulation. This is because providing this service is part of our public task to secure public funds. Additionally, in some instances payments are made to us based on our legal contract with you, Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR.
