How we use your information

Aberdeen City Council collects this information about you for the purposes of sending you information in relation to the contract of works which your property forms part of and invoicing you. Your information will not be shared with anyone else.

How long we’ll keep your information

We will keep this information for the duration of the contract and until final payment is received, this means that from the date of sign up to the contract until completion of the works we will contact you. Our final correspondence with you will be on receipt of full payment. If you sell your property during the contract, then we will delete your details a month after either; final invoice is paid or full details and agreement to meet the remainder of the costs has been received by the qualifying purchaser.

Your rights

You’ve got legal rights about the way the council handles and uses your data, which include the right to ask for a copy of it, and to ask us to stop doing something with your data. Please email the Council’s Data Protection Officer on DataProtectionOfficer@aberdeencity.gov.uk or write to:

You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office. They are the body responsible for making sure organisations like the Council handle your data lawfully.

Our legal basis

Aberdeen City Council is the Data Controller for your information. Wherever the Council processes your data, we need to make sure we have a legal basis for doing so in data protection law. The Council understands our legal basis for processing your data to provide you with information regarding the contract of works involving your property as Article 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation, because it is necessary for the performance of the contract between the Council and yourself.
