How we use your information
When you enter an Aberdeen City Council Libraries competition or submit a piece of creative work, we will use your information to manage and administer the competition or submission process, including notifying if you are a winner.
Entries may be displayed including via social media and will be anonymised unless specific permission has been granted to include a participant’s details. We will contact you separately to ask you about this.
The information will also be used to compile statistical information for reporting purposes and to inform the development of Aberdeen City Libraries programme of activities and events.
How long we keep your information for
We will keep the information for 6 months from the end of the competition or event, anonymised statistical information will be kept for 5 years.
We will keep pieces of art and models for up to 6 months, offering you the chance to collect your piece within a specified timescale prior to disposal.
We will retain photographic evidence of the pieces of art and models for 5 years.
Your rights
You have rights to your data, including the right to ask for a copy of it. See more information about all of the rights you have, as well as the contact details for the Council’s Data Protection Officer. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office. They are the body responsible for making sure organisations like the Council handle your data lawfully.
Our legal basis
Aberdeen City Council is the Data Controller for your information. Whenever the Council processes your data, we need to make sure we have a legal basis for doing so under data protection law. The Council understands our legal basis for processing your data as part of our public task under Section 20 of the Local Government in Scotland Act 2003 to promote or improve the wellbeing for persons and the area.
