Your data: garden waste permits

How we use your information

Aberdeen City Council uses the information you give to provide information to an approved 3rd party who is responsible for the organisation and issuing of permits for the chargeable garden waste scheme. We will use your email address to contact you near the end of your permit to remind you to renew.  

How long we keep your information for

We will keep your information for 2 years from when your last permit expires. We keep financial records for the current year plus 6 years. 

Your rights

You have rights to your data, including the right to ask for a copy of it. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you think that we haven’t handled your data properly. 

Our legal basis

Aberdeen City Council is the data controller for this information. Wherever the Council processes personal data, we need to make sure we have a legal basis for doing so in data protection law. The Council understands our legal basis for processing personal data in relation to domestic waste and recycling as being part of our public task and necessary for the performance of a contract between the Council and you.
