How we use your information
Aberdeen City Council is asking for this information so that we can find out about your current experience of Early Learning and Childcare in Aberdeen City and your future requirements. We will use this information to:
- Review the impact of the implementation of the expansion of Early Learning and Childcare to date;
- Review uptake and models of delivery across the city;
- Inform the development of an Early Learning and Childcare Delivery Plan which is published every 2 years and sets out the strategic direction for the delivery of Early Learning and Childcare in the city, responding to local need and reflecting the diversity of communities in Aberdeen; and
- Meet our statutory consultation duties under the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014.
We do not need your name, address or any other contact details as part of this consultation so you can respond anonymously. If you do identify yourself or your child in any of the responses to the questions we have asked, we will not use this information for our analysis.
We are proposing to have focus groups following the end of the consultation and if you do submit your contact details these will be used to invite you to participate.
Who we share information with
The Early Learning and Childcare Delivery Plan will be published on the Aberdeen City Council website and shared with the Scottish Government for the purpose of audit and evaluation. The report will not contain information that can identify individuals.
How long we keep your information
We will keep your response until we have completed the analysis that will inform the Early Learning and Childcare Delivery Plan. We will keep the statistical information for one year from the end of the consultation.
The plan will be reported to the Education and Children’s Services Committee, will be published on the Council’s website and will be kept permanently. This will not contain any data that can identify you as an individual.
Your rights
You have rights in relation to your data, including the right to ask for a copy of it. Find out more about all of the rights you. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office. That is the body responsible for making sure organisations like the Council handle your data lawfully.
Our legal basis
Aberdeen City Council is the Data Controller for this data. Wherever we process personal data we must have a legal basis in data protection law and tell you what it is. The Council understands our legal basis for processing as necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of the official authority vested in the Council. This is because Aberdeen City Council have the statutory obligation to regularly consult with parents and carers regarding the care of their children under the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014.
