How we use your information

We use your personal information in order to process and manage your request for an inscription in a Book of Remembrance. We will use your contact details to keep in touch with you about your request and to contact you if we have any queries.

How long we keep your information for

Books of Remembrance are kept permanently. We will keep your request for five years from the date of application. We will keep a record of your payment for 6 years from the date of transaction.

Your rights

You have rights to your data, including the right to ask for a copy of it. See more information about all the rights you have including contact details for the Council’s Data Protection Officer. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you think we haven’t handled your data properly.

Our legal basis

Aberdeen City Council is the Data Controller for this information.  Wherever we process personal data we have to make sure we have a legal basis for doing so in data protection law. We understand our basis for processing your data as being necessary for the performance of a contract between the Council and yourself.
