Your data: Aberdeen Highland Games Trade and Charity Stalls

How we use your information 

We use your information to manage your application for a trade or charity stall at the Aberdeen Highland Games, including:

  • To confirm your eligibility for a stall at the games.
  • To keep in touch with you about your application.
  • We will share your details with our Environmental Health and Trading Standards departments in order to help assess your application.
  • Environmental Health and Trading Standards may contact you directly to offer advice. 
  • If you wish, for us to contact you about any future opportunities, organised by the Council, to host a stall. 

How long we keep your information for

Applications will be kept for 1 year. If you wish to be contacted about future markets, we will retain your contact details in order to do so. If at any time you no longer wish to be contacted about these, please let us know. We will keep financial records relating to your application for 6 years after the current financial year. 

Your rights

You have rights in relation to your data, including the right to ask for a copy of it. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you think we haven’t handled your data properly.

Our legal basis

Aberdeen City Council is the Data Controller for this information. Wherever the Council processes personal data, we need to make sure we have a legal basis for doing so in data protection law. The Council understands our legal basis for processing personal data in relation to Aberdeen Highland Games Trade and Charity Stall applications as being our contract with you, as set out in the Terms and Conditions. Our legal basis for Environmental Health or Trading Standards contacting you to offer advice is our public task. Our legal basis for retaining your contact details to contact you in future is consent under Data Protection law. This is because we need your consent to process this information, and you can withdraw it at any time, as outlined above.
