The 'treasures from our collections' exhibition has revealed some fascinating items from our archive and collections since it began in July 2015.
The project
Every month until the Central Library's 125th Anniversary in July 2017, we have unveiled five more items reflecting themes such as music, cinema, literature, dance and theatre which showcase the cultural heritage of Aberdeen. In addition we have also featured guest treasures from collections held by City Archives, NHS Grampian Archives and Aberdeen Journals.
Highlights from the past two years include photography by George Washington Wilson, the Egyptian Book of the Dead, Archibald Simpson plans, J. T. McIntosh science fiction collection, our earliest Aberdeen printed book from 1624, Raine from the Clouds by Edward Raban, Capitol Cinema souvenir brochure, a selection of Chapbooks from the 19th century, Bon Accord holiday editions and many more.
More recently we have added Aberdeen Artists Society early programmes, Railway Station plans, political cartoons and we finish in July with Tivoli Posters, Charters and our guest treasure from Regensburg Libraries.
