Big screen Doric

In December 2020 we held an online workshop in which local writer Shane Strachan led participants in translating well known scenes into the local dialect of Doric. Here is Shane's take on Titanic’s ‘Draw me like one of your French girls’ scene:

(Rose undresses.)

We would love to collect and showcase more of these translated scenes. Find below a list of possible scenes for inspiration and the Doric translations we have received so far.

Memories and stories of stage and screen

We are not only interested in writing in Doric. We would also be delighted to receive any short creative fiction or written memories of Aberdeen’s cinemas and theatre. Do you have a favourite experience of the going to the cinema or theatre? We would love to hear about it!
