Please read the below rules and regulations before taking part in the 2024 Aberdeen Highland Games. 

Please note times may vary according to programme requirements on the day. 

  1. Competitors must be registered with the SHGA before they can compete.
  2. Competitors who are registering for a one-day pass must advise the results team of their number so their entry form can be updated.
  3. Competitors must abide by the SHGA byelaws.
  4. Competitors who enter on the day must pay the entry fee into the event site, they should then report to the competitor’s registration tent. 
  5. Entries to be emailed by the 2th June or completed on the day from 10am to 12noon, entries to be at least an hour before the event is due to take place.
  6. On the day entries will be limited and will be at the Lead Judges discretion.
  7. In all competitions there must be more competitors than prizes, otherwise part of the prizes will be withdrawn.
  8. All competitors when not competing must retire to a place appointed for them and, if refusing to do so when ordered, will forfeit the right to further competition.
  9. Competitors must not wear tracksuits while competing. 
  10. In all questions of dispute, the decision of the Lead Judge will be final.
  11. Upon the conclusion of each competition, the successful competitors will be given a prize card this to be taken to the to the Games Results tent.
  12. All prize monies must be collected by close of event (5.30pm). Any unclaimed monies will be deemed as forfeited by the competitor. Prize Monies to be collected from the results tent by exchanging of the event place card received from the event judge.
  13. The Organisers accept no responsibility for any loss, injury or damage, which the public might sustain.
  14. The Organisers accept no responsibility for any loss, injury or damage, which the competitor might sustain.
  15. There will be no refunds if the event has to be cancelled due to weather or circumstances out-with our control.

  6. In all competitions there must be more competitors than prizes, otherwise part of the prizes will be withdrawn.
  7. All competitors when not competing must retire to a place appointed for them and, if refusing to do so when ordered, will forfeit the right to further competition.
  8. Competitors must wear approved competition clothing and footwear in line with Association rules.
  9. In all questions of dispute, the decision of the Lead ToW Judge will be final.
  10. Upon the conclusion of each competition, the successful competitors will be presented with their prizes between 4pm to 5pm. Any team unable to provide a representative for the presentation must collect their prize money before leaving from the results tent.
  11. All prize monies must be collected by close of event (5.30pm). Any unclaimed monies will be deemed as forfeited by the competitor. Prize Monies to be collected from the results tent by exchanging of the event place card received from the event judge or have id that shows they are the rep for that group/team.

  1. Competitors who enter on the day must pay the entry fee into the event site, they should then report to the competitor’s registration tent. 
  2. Accompanying adults must pay entry fee into the Games, there is no additional charges.
  3. Entries using the online form by the 2th June or completed on the day from 10am to 12noon, entries to be at least an hour before the event is due to take place.
  4. On the day entries will be limited and will be at the Dance Conveners discretion.
  5. The use of personal changing tents will only be allowed in the designated area, limited space and will be on a first come basis.
  6. In all competitions there must be more competitors than prizes, otherwise part of the prizes will be withdrawn.
  7. Upon the decision of each dancing competition, the successful competitors will be shown a flag 1st prize red, 2nd prize white, 3rd prize blue, 4th prize yellow and take the prize card issued to the Games Office.
  8. In dancing events, all competitors are requested to wear full Highland Dress while competing in the Highland Dances. The wearing of a Balmoral (men) will be optional. No medals to be worn. For Sailors Hornpipe and Irish Jig the appropriate costume must be worn (including jig shoes). 
  9. A shield – to be retained by the winner will be awarded in each of the four dancing sections for most points awarded overall. A special challenge cup –to be retained for one year – will be awarded to the competitor with the most points in events 27, 28, 29 and 30 (14 to 16 years 
  10. inclusive). A special cup – to be retained for one year – will be awarded to the Adult Dancer with 
  11. the most points. In the event of a tie, a dance-off (dance selected by judges) will take place.

  16. The Organisers accept no responsibility for any loss, injury or damage, which the competitor might sustain.

  1. Competitors must pay the entry fee to the Games and entries close half an hour before the event is due to take place.
  2. At all competitions there must be more competitors than prizes, otherwise part of the prizes will be withdrawn.
  3. All competitors must appear in Highland Dress.
  4. All competitors when not competing must retire to a place appointed for them and, if refusing to do so when ordered, will forfeit the right to further competition.
  5. All competitors must not practice in areas which would effect other event activities, may forfeit the right to further competition.
  6. In all questions of dispute, the decision of the Judge will be final.
  7. All prize monies must be collected by close of event (5.30pm). Any unclaimed monies will be deemed as forfeited by the competitor. Prize Monies to be
