Aberdeen Highland Games - How to Get to Hazlehead Park

There are a number of ways you can get to Hazlehead Park, listed below are a number of them. 

What3Words 

If you have the app What3Words, then use the code words "analogy.noted.casual", which will take you to the main vehicle entrance to the event and the park. Follow the signs and directions of the stewards from this point. Motorhomes, mini buses and coaches will be directed away from the cars at this point and parked in a different place. 

By Road 

The main routes are A90 North, A90 South, A96 and A956. 

From the South: 

• Heading from Stonehaven, you will need to leave the A92 and take the turn off for the AWPR road A90 North, using the sliproad. 
• At the end of the slip road, take the 3rd exit A90 North. 
• Stay on the road, you will get to a roundabout and take the 1st exit 
• Take 2nd slip road 
• 1st slip road sign will be signed for City Centre, ARI, Park and Ride, A944 
• 2nd slip road sign will be signed for Alford, Westhill, Kingswells, Aberdeen (W), A944 
• When on the slip road, go to the right hand lane marked City. 
• Stay on roundabout and take the A944 (E) in either lane. 
• Take the junction marked City Centre, ARI, Park and Ride, A944 (40mph). 
• Go past the petrol station.
• Once you've reached the traffic lights, continue straight on. 
• In the middle lane, take thr roundabout straight on at the 2nd exit marked City Centre, ARI, A944 (40mph). 
• When you see big brown sign with 'Welcome to Aberdeen', move to the right hand lane when you are able to.
• Make sure you are in the right hand lane when you see the next sign that says City Centre (S), Robert Gordon University, Crematorium, A9119. 
• Take the 2nd exit and go straight on at the roundabout. 
• Skene Road. 
• At the traffic lights, go straight on past the Crematorium. 
• After going through these lights, turn right at the next traffic lights and turn onto Groats Road. 
• You will now see Event traffic signs, stay to the left side (HG/Highland Games), right side is for other park users - queuing here will be likely. 
• At the end of the road, you will turn left and be splut into car parking or mini-bus/motor home/coaches parking by the stewards. 
• The exit can be found by following the signage within the car park or explained to you by the stewards for mini buses/coaches/motorhomes. 

From the West: 

• From Westhill follow the A944 east and head for City Centre(S), Robert Gordon University, Crematorium, A9119.
• Take 2nd exit/ straight on at roundabout.
• Skene Road.
• At traffic lights go straight on past the Crematorium.
• After going through these lights turn right at next traffic lights on to Groats Road.
• You will now see Event traffic signs, stay to left side (HG/Highland Games), right side is for other park users. (queuing likely)
• At the end of the road you will turn left and be split into car parking or mini-bus/motor home/coaches parking by the stewards.
• Exit will be by following the signage (signage arrows) within the car park or explained to you by the stewards for mini buses/coaches/motorhomes.

• From Banchory follow signs for Aberdeen A93.
• After going through Peterculter and passing Kippie Lodge, take the left turn/slip just before the traffic lights A90 Aberdeen (N) & (S), Harbour, AECC, ARI, A90.
• At roundabout take 1st exit A90,AECC, Aberdeen (N) & (W), ARI
• 1st Sliproad sign will be signed for City Centre, ARI, Park and Ride,A944,
• 2nd sliproad sign will be Alford, Westhill, Kingswells, Aberdeen (W), A944.
• When on sliproad, go to right hand lane City.
• Stay on roundabout, take the A944 (E) either lane.
• Take junction City Centre, ARI, Park and Ride, A944. (40mph)

• From Fraserburgh/ Peterhead/ Ellon follow signs to Aberdeen A90.
• BLACKDOG junction take the slip road for the A90 South, Aberdeen (S) & (W),ARI, Inverness, AECC.
• Take the 3rd exit A90 South, Aberdeen (S) & (W),ARI, Inverness, AECC.
• Stay on road past KINGSWELLS North Junction.
• Take next slip road KINGSWELLS South junction for Alford, Westhill, Kingswells, Aberdeen (W), A944.
• On slip road take the left lane “City”.
• Take dual carriageway road 1st exit City centre, ARI, park & ride, A944.
• Go past the petrol station.
• Traffic lights straight on.
• Middle lane, Roundabout straight on 2nd exit, City Centre, ARI, A944. (40mph)
• When you see big brown sign “welcome to Aberdeen” when able to, move to right hand lane.

• Heading North: Take the A92 South Anderson Drive/ Anderson Drive and turn off at QUEEN’S ROAD roundabout 1st exit A90 North& South, A96, Alford A944, Crematorium.
• Stay on Queen’s Road B9119.
• No access to Hazlehead Park at roundabout, go through roundabout 2nd exit and carry on going. A90 North& South, A96, Alford A944, Crematorium.
• Turn left at Hazlehead Academy / Hazlehead Park Groats Road.
• You will now see Event traffic signs, stay to left side (HG/Highland Games), right side is for other park users. (queuing likely)
• At the end of the road you will turn left and be split into car parking or mini-bus/motor home/coaches parking by the stewards.

• Exit will be by following the signage (signage arrows) within the car park or explained to you by the stewards for Mini buses/coaches/motorhomes.

   

• Heading South: take the A92 North Anderson Drive / Anderson Drive and turn off at QUEEN’S ROAD roundabout 3rd exit A90 North& South, A96, Alford A944, Crematorium.
• Stay on Queen’s Road B9119.
• No access to Hazlehead Park at roundabout, go through roundabout 2nd exit and carry on going. A90 North& South, A96, Alford A944, Crematorium.
• Turn left at Hazlehead Academy / Hazlehead Park Groats Road.
• You will now see Event traffic signs, stay to left side (HG/Highland Games), right side is for other park users. (queuing likely)
