Certain full-time care workers are disregarded for council tax purposes. This means that we bill your household as if you were not living there. If you live alone you will not have to pay council tax.
You qualify for this disregard if you:
- provide care and/or support for an average of at least 35 hours per week.
- are resident in the same dwelling as the person receiving care.
- are not the spouse, or partner, of the patient. A parent cannot be treated as care worker if the patient is their child (under the age of 18).
- care for someone in receipt of either higher rate Attendance Allowance, higher rate care component of DLA, enhanced rate daily living component of PIP, or higher rate disablement pension.
You must meet all of the above criteria to qualify.
