Seed funding is available to not-for-profit organisations in Aberdeen and individuals to deliver a range of creative and cultural activities. The Acorn programme is part of the wider Aberdeen Culture Investment Programme which has replaced all of Aberdeen City Council's current grant schemes for Arts and Culture from 2025.

Funding can be used for cultural activities within various fields including visual arts, music, dance, theatre, heritage, cultural education, digital media, and craft. The programme supports one-off events, new pilot cultural projects, testing new cultural activities, and encouraging the retention of emerging talent in Aberdeen.

Applicants must demonstrate the ability to deliver high-quality creative activity within Aberdeen and have relevant safeguarding policies, equal opportunities policy, and appropriate accounting procedures.

Grants are available to organisations in Scotland's North East and Moray region to support the transition to net zero and help to diversify the local economy away from carbon-intensive industries. The Just Transition Fund (JTF) is a £500 million, ten-year commitment launched in 2022, with £8.5 million available for the 2025/26 financial year.

This capital fund supports projects that contribute to job creation and sustainable economic growth in the region. Eligible applicants include registered charities, businesses, and public sector bodies that are headquartered in and demonstrate strong connection to Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen City or Moray. Collaborative bids are allowed with supporting evidence.

Funding typically covers 50% to 70% of eligible capital costs, and applicants must provide match funding from other sources. Grants may be used to buy fixed assets, inventory, acquire long-term financial assets, or undertake qualifying R&D activities.
