Council's £180,000 Creative Funding programme open for applications

05 April 2019

Aberdeen City Council has made £180,000 available to fund creative projects across the city.

Last year, Creative Funding allocated £184,000 awards supporting 40 different projects across the city involving over 300 volunteers and 1500 volunteer hours, 2,000 participants and 50,000 audience members.

This year’s Creative Funding Programme gives individuals the opportunity of applying for up to £2000 while not-for-profit organisations can apply for up to £15,000 from the £180,000 available to support the development and delivery of arts, culture, heritage or other related creative activity across the city.

Councillor Marie Boulton, cultural spokeswoman for Aberdeen City Council, said: “We are committed to supporting the development and delivery of arts, culture and creativity in the city. We recognise both the intrinsic value of being creative and the social, educational and economic benefits of cultural activity and events.

“That is why we are proud to continue to fund individuals and projects that do so much to enrich the city”.

Among last year’s recipients was writer Jo Gilbert who received funding to develop the Doric Poetry Slam and Bon Accord Civic Heritage Association who were able to make the film ‘No Ladies Please’ as a result.

Individuals and groups have until 5pm on Friday 26 April 2019 to submit their applications. Guidelines and applications can be obtained from:
