Multi Agency Training

*This training is for professionals working in Aberdeen City*

During this multi-agency training session, we will discuss the most up to date guidance and language practitioners should be using when they find it hard to engage with a parent/carer.

We will discuss how non-engagement on the part of service users may take the form of aggression, manipulation, concealment, blaming and ‘splitting’ professionals, inaction or selective action.

We will discuss the impact non-engagement can have on both children and professionals and cover 5 different styles of conflict management. We will then break out into groups and discuss example cases of non-engagement before coming back to discuss support for the team around the child and ways of managing resistance.

The aims of this training are:

To promote the use of 'Services Finding It Hard To Engage'.

To raise awareness of why non-engagement by a parent or carer matters in child protection.

To increase skills and confidence in practitioners when they find it hard to engage a family.

To promote multi-agency working to help tackle non-engagement.

To identify resources for practitioners to use to help manage non-engagement.
