How we use your information
If you choose to subscribe to receive notifications about Aberdeen City Council using our email updates service, we’ll add your email address on our mailing list. We will use your email address to send you news, updates and information about our services, based on the topics you are interested in and have subscribed to.
We do this using the Granicus Communications Cloud. Although the system we use is hosted by our partners Granicus, responsibility for your data and its use remains with us.
How long we keep your information
Every update you receive from us will give you the option to unsubscribe, if you decide you don’t want to receive these updates anymore. If you choose to unsubscribe, we will delete your address from our mailing list held on the GovDelivery Communications Cloud. You can also email us at email@example.com if at any time if you decide you no longer want to be on our mailing list or receive news, updates and information.
You have rights to your data, including the right to ask for a copy of it. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office. They are the body responsible for making sure organisations like the Council handle your data lawfully.
Our legal basis
Aberdeen City Council is the Data Controller for this your information. Wherever the Council processes your data, we need to make sure we have a legal basis for doing so in data protection law. The Council understands our legal basis for processing your data to provide updates and news as Article 6(1)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation, because you have consented by signing up to receive notifications. You can withdraw this at any time, as explained above.
