How we use your information
When you make an enquiry to our Family Information Service, the personal details that you provide us with will be recorded manually and on computer and processed so that we can send you information on services specific to your own needs. Your personal details will not be used for any other purpose and will not be shared with any other organisation or re-used by any other part of the Council.
How long we keep your information for
We will keep your personal details for 3 months, after which they will be disposed of securely. The Council will keep an anonymised record of your request for statistical purposes. Statistical information will be used to ensure that we are delivering the right services to meet the needs of children and families and to identify any gaps or issues in service delivery throughout the city.
Your rights
You have rights in relation to your data, including the right to ask for a copy. See more information about all the rights you have, as well as contact details for the Council’s Data Protection Officer. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you think we haven’t handled your data properly.
Our legal basis
Wherever Aberdeen City Council processes your data we need to tell you what our legal basis in Data Protection law for doing so. The Council understands our legal basis for processing your data as Article 6(1)(e) of the General Data Protection Regulation, because providing a Family Information Service is part of our public task, as a local authority. This is because the Council has the power to provide a Family Information Service under the Social Work (Scotland) Act 1968.
