How we use your information

Aberdeen City Council collects, maintains and processes automatically information about you for Building Warrant application processing and determination purposes, and this data may also be used for consultation purposes.

The personal information can include your name, address, telephone number, signature and email address. The information may be provided to us by an agent submitting an application on your behalf.

In order to assist us in keeping information accurate and up to date, the applicant and, where applicable, the agent should notify the Council immediately of any changes to the information which has been entered on the Building Warrant application form.

The Building Warrant Application and supporting documents may be viewed by members of the public at our offices, as required in terms of the Building (Scotland) Act 2003 and supporting regulations. The information which has been provided on the Building Warrant Application Form and the supporting documents will be published on our website for the purpose of advertising weekly Building Warrant application lists and other information. Information will be shared only in accordance with the requirements of the Building (Scotland) Act 2003 or otherwise as required by law, including disclosure to other agencies, for example Fire, Police, Scottish Natural Heritage, Historic Scotland, as required for the purposes of determining this application.

Our legal basis

Aberdeen City Council is the Data Controller for this information. Wherever we process personal information we need to make sure we have a legal basis for doing so. The Council understands our legal basis for processing this information as Article 6(1)(c) of the General Data Protection Regulation as this is an activity we are legally required to carry out under the Building (Scotland) Act 2003 and supporting regulations.
