Your data: tenant consultation

How we use your information

Aberdeen City Council collects and records information about you to analyse and respond to any feedback you have raised during this consultation. We also use it to report on our consultations, setting out what issues have been raised and how we have responded to that feedback (individuals will not be identified in any such reports).

We will also update your contact details if you are a current Aberdeen City Council tenant. With your consent, we will also use your information to be entered into a prize draw and contacted if successful.

It is entirely your choice to do this and you can withdraw your consent to enter into the prize draw at any time by emailing housingstrategy@aberdeencity.gov.uk or by writing to:

How long we keep your information for

We will keep this information for one month after the closing date of the consultation. If you are an Aberdeen City Council tenant and have provided us with contact details, these will be kept for the duration of your tenancy and you will be only contacted with matters relating to your tenancy.

Your rights

You’ve got legal rights about the way the council handles and uses your data, which include the right to ask for a copy of it, and to ask us to stop doing something with your data. Please email the Council’s Data Protection Officer on DataProtectionOfficer@aberdeencity.gov.uk or write to:

You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office. They are the body responsible for making sure organisations like the Council handle your data lawfully.

Our legal basis

Wherever Aberdeen City Council processes your data we need to tell you what our legal basis in Data Protection law for doing so. The Council understands our legal basis for processing your data as Articles 6(1)(a) and 6(1)(c) of the General Data Protection Regulation. This is because we are legally required to consult with our tenants under the Housing (Scotland) Act 2001 and you have consented to enter your details in to the prize draw. You can withdraw your consent to this at any time, as explained above.
