Your data: specific commercial property enquiries

How we use your information

Aberdeen City Council collects information about you in order to respond to enquiries and to note an interest in a property.

We share the information you provide with the appropriate Council services, such as our Legal Department, local ward members and Council Committees in order to progress with the disposal or lease of the property. The Council does not share this information with any other organisation.

How long we keep your information for

We will keep information that you provide for 2 years following your enquiry, and in cases where you become the preferred bidder and purchaser we will keep the information for 7 years following the date of entry.

If you become the tenant of a Council property we will keep your details for the length of the lease and 7 years from the end of the tenancy agreement or the last acknowledgement of debt.

Your rights

You have rights in relation to your data, including the right to ask for a copy of it. See the Your data page for more information about all the rights you have, as well as the contact details for the Council’s Data Protection Officer. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office if you think we haven’t handled your data properly.

Our legal basis

Aberdeen City Council is the Data Controller for this information about you. Wherever the Council processes personal data, we need to make sure we have a legal basis for doing so in data protection law. We understand our legal basis as Article 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation as the processing is a necessary step prior to entering into a contract for the potential sale or lease of property.
