How we use your information
Aberdeen City Council may receive requests, on your behalf, from prospective landlords for a reference. Any such request should be accompanied by a signed mandate.
The information we provide to prospective landlords will be used to check whether your tenancy/tenancies were conducted satisfactorily.
The information requested, may include:
• Start date of your tenancy with Aberdeen City Council
• End date of your tenancy with Aberdeen City Council
• Weekly rent
• Any outstanding balances
• Any Anti-Social Behaviour incurred by you
• Any action taken against you in respect of your tenancy.
How long will we keep the information for
We will keep the request and a copy of the response for one week after issue.
Your rights
You have rights in relation to your data, including the right to ask for a copy of it. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office if you think we haven’t handled your data properly.
Our Legal Basis
Wherever the Council processes personal data, we need to make sure we have a legal basis for doing so in data protection law. The Council understands our legal basis for processing personal data in relation to your application as Article 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation.
In providing this service, the Council may process special category personal data. The Council understands our legal basis for doing so as Article 9(2)(g) of the General Data Protection Regulation.
