Guidance notes for applying for a taxi to be wheelchair accessible

Civic government (Scotland) act 1982

  • All applications must be made on the approved form.
  • The appropriate fee requires to be lodged at the time of application.
  • The application will not be accepted unless all documentation is enclosed with the application form.
  • You must include the Type Approval Certificate, Certificate of Registration, MOT test certificate (where appropriate), and any other supporting documentation available.
  • The onus is on the applicant to ensure the vehicle complies with the specification required by Aberdeen City Council for wheelchair accessible vehicles.
  • Approval will not be given unless the vehicle meets, in full, the specification.
  • The vehicle referred to in the documentation must be produced for examination.
  • An appointment for this examination will only be given once a complete application has been made.
  • No approval will be given without the vehicle being examined.
  • No examination of any kind will be conducted prior to an application being made.
  • No provisional approval will be give on the understanding modification will be carried out at a later date.
