Apply for a virtual business parking permit

You are entitled to a parking permit if your business is within a controlled parking zone.

If your business is in zones A to G you are entitled to one fixed permit. If it is in any other zone, you are entitled to two permits. If you are entitled to two permits, you can either have two fixed permits, or one fixed permit and one flexible permit.

The vehicle must be a passenger or light goods vehicle weighing less than 3.5 tonnes and designed for 8 passengers or less (excluding the driver).

You cannot use the permits on trailers or caravans.

You do not need a permit for a motorbike. You can park a motorbike free of charge in any parking bay.

Before you apply for a permit, please read the information below by clicking on one of the headings:

Support documents

All business permits

You must provide a Non Domestic Rates demand letter dated within the last 3 months. If this letter does not include your business address you will also need to provide one of the following:

A current utility bill (dated within the last 3 months).
A current bank/credit card statement (dated within the last 3 months).
A mortgage agreement (dated within the last 3 months).
A current tenancy agreement issued by a solicitor or leasing agent on headed paper and dated within the last 3 months.

The document must clearly show your business name and address.

Fixed business and fixed repairs and maintenance garage permits

If you are applying for a fixed business permit or fixed repairs and maintenance garage permit, in addition to the above documents, you should also upload:

All pages of the DVLA Vehicle Registration Certificate (V5C).
Your certificate of insurance showing the vehicle is insured for business use or the company’s group policy insurance certificate showing all drivers and vehicles.

We can only issue a 3 month fixed permit if you are unable to supply the V5C documentation but have the bill of sale or insurance documentation confirming the make, model and vehicle registration. If after 3 months you are still unable to produce the V5C form it will be rejected.

If you are hiring the vehicle, please provide the contract hire agreement showing your name/the business name and the vehicle registration number.

The cost of a business parking permit depends on the length of time you need it for and the type of permit you require.

To apply for a new business parking permit please register for an account and complete the online application. Remember, you only need to switch to a virtual permit when your current paper permit expires.

Switching vehicles on a flexible permit

You can change the vehicle assigned to your flexible permit using your online permit account.

To switch vehicles on a flexible permit you must log into your account and switch vehicles. Or you can contact us Mon - Fri, 8am - 8pm, Saturday 8am - 6pm and Sunday 1 - 5pm.

There is no limit on how many times you can switch vehicles applied to your flexible permit.
