Telling and Retelling Supernatural Tales - Writing Workshop

Monday 22 April, 6pm at Central Library

Come along for a creative writing workshop inspired by traditional supernatural tales! Scottish writer Walter Scott was fascinated by tales of the supernatural and the ways in which folklore and supernatural stories were shared by people from different countries and cultures. This has inspired researchers at the University of Aberdeen to collect supernatural tales from the diverse communities living in Scotland today and use them for these interactive workshops to create new communities of fable through creative writing and storytelling.

Beginning with an interactive multimedia exploration of supernatural stories from Scotland and folktales from other countries and cultures, a creative writing workshop will then use these tales to help you write your own modern-day supernatural story. This creative writing event is suitable for adults of all ages.

Prior writing experience is not essential.

Lend and Mend Hub Activities

As part of a project with The Scottish Library & Information Council, Central Library has recently launched its ‘Lend and Mend Hub’, located in the Media Centre.

The hub features six sewing machines and an overlocker that will help the local community to repair, reuse, and upcycle everyday items, with free access for everyone to keep items in use for longer, rather than them being thrown away.

The team from Repair What You Wear Aberdeen are hosting a series of events within the Hub. For more information on these sessions, visit the Lend and Mend webpage.
