Are you interested in becoming a Library Champion?

Library Champions are young people (8-15yrs) who act as ambassadors for libraries in Aberdeen.  Library Champions represent young people in the city and are involved in evaluating, planning and developing library services and initiatives for young people.

What do you think young people would like to see in our libraries?  What kind of events should we have?  What initiatives or innovations do you think would benefit young people in the city?

Get involved! Be heard! Contribute!

Meetings will re-start in the new year.

Email: If you would like to be part of a Teenage group (12-15yrs), email learningdevelopment@aberdeencity.gov.uk to register your interest.

Can you commit to:

  • one meeting a month?  There may be opportunities to support library activities outside of this meeting.
  • six months of being an active member of the Library Champions team?
  • travelling to a different Aberdeen City library each month?
  • helping us to deliver the BEST library services we can for young people in the city?
  • being a champion for our initiatives? e.g. Aberdeen Reads Summer Challenge.

If you're keen to get involved and share your thoughts, opinions and ideas about library services of the future, get in touch by emailing LearningDevelopment@aberdeencity.gov.uk

Why join the Teen Library Champions?

You can contribute to/inform Aberdeen City Libraries' planning and development of library services and initiatives for young people in the city - an opportunity to make some real impact. There will be opportunities to get involved with projects we have running with partners: see below.

WayWORD Festival

As part of the Teen Library Champions group, come and help the WayWORD Festival team to develop a mini arts festival for young people.

You can interview a brilliant author; learn new techniques from a artist; practise writing with a poet....or anything else you think other young people would like to see happening in the city!

You need to be 12-16yrs to take part, and you need to have an interest in developing ideas for next year's WayWORD Festival on behalf of young people.

Contact cadoig@aberdeencity.gov.uk to sign up or find out more.

Meeting on Wednesday from 6pm in November, December and January to create a mini-fest in February.
