Great Runners Welcome 

Gilcomston Church on Union Street are welcoming runners and spectators with refreshment and provision of toilet facilities from 9am and 1pm during the event.

Sunday 25 August 2019

On Sunday 25 August 2019, The Simplyheath Great Aberdeen family run starts at 09:00am and the 10km and half marathon run starts at 10:30am. 

Your run number normally arrives approximately 2 weeks before the event date, along with your event magazine. Please do not remove your timing chip from the run number as this will affect your time. 

Both the start and finish line are located right within Aberdeen’s City Centre on Union Street. 

All races will start and finish on Union Street in the heart of Aberdeen’s city centre.

Yes, there will be a baggage storing facility located at the rear of the Assembly Area on Union St. They will then relocate at 10:50 to Bridge Street where runners can collect their bags. 

The buses will be numbered 1-4 so remember which number bus you have left your bag on!

There are toilets located at the rear of assembly, along Bon Accord Street. There are also toilets located along both the 10km and half marathon course at each drinks station for participants to use. 

Half Marathon

Yes, you will pass 4 drinks stations across the route at the following locations; Esplanade (out and back), Seaton Park and Gallowgate. 
10km

Yes, you will pass 1 drinks station on the route, located on Gallowgate. 


There will also be a run through shower on route for the 10k and half marathon.

Yes, the route will include a number of different bands, charity cheering points, musical entertainment and of course, plenty of supporters along the route. 

Yes, it will, from the start to finish with several other timing splits at 5km, 10km and 15km. Your timing chip will be found attached to the back of your run number and will be automatically activated as soon as you cross the start line. There is no need to return it once you’ve finished! 

Yes, the free Great Run app is available from the app store and allows your supporters to follow you around the course on their mobile devise. The app is available to download for free at the Google Play store and iTunes App store.

Please note: the live tracking function will be active approximately 2 days before the event. There will be free WIFI for all runners and spectators to use at the finish area. 

All finishers will receive a bespoke technical t-shirt, a brilliant medal and lots of goodies in their finisher’s pack. 

You will need to come and visit our Customer Services team on Saturday 24 August, located in the Run4it shop (21 Holburn Street, Aberdeen, AB10 6BS)

Please do not park your vehicle on the route as this could be uplifted by a vehicle uplift company. Please park on a street off the course to prevent this from happening to your vehicle.
