Getting around Aberdeen on 24 and 25 August

Celebrate Aberdeen - Saturday 24 August

The Celebrate Aberdeen parade takes place in the city centre on Saturday 24 August. A number of roads in the city centre will be closed between 10am and 1pm on Saturday 25 August.

Broad Street will be closed between Upperkirkgate and Queen Street from 8pm on Friday 23 August until 5am on Monday 26 August.

Great Aberdeen Run - Sunday 25 August

All the races on the day start and finish on Union Street with the event village also based on Union Street. A number of roads in the city centre and surrounding areas will be affected by the event, and road closures and traffic diversion plans will be in operation on 25 August.

Download the map below to see the road closures and timings in place on the day. Road closures will be phased and will take place between 4.30am and 6.30am. The roads will re-open between 12:15pm and 6pm. Please note that these times are approximate and we will open the roads when it's safe to do so.

Cycle routes

On 25 August cycling route NCN 1 (which runs north/south on College Bounds/High St./Chanonry/path alongside Wallace Tower) will include diversions to avoid the Great Aberdeen Run. Travelling northwards, these are:

  • Left onto Sunnybank Road (at junction with Spital)
  • Right onto Sunnyside Road
  • Right onto Bedford Road
  • Straight ahead onto Tillydrone Avenue (at junction with St Machar Drive)
  • Rejoin NCN1 at Tillydrone Avenue

For travelling south, take the above in reverse order.
