European Pipe Band Championships - Road Closures

The following road closures will be in place due to the European Pipe Band Championships taking place at the Duthie Park on Saturday 24th June 2023: 

 

 

  • Great Southern Road, Northbound - from Riverside Drive to Murray Terrace (Right turn from Murray Terrace maintained Northbound) 
  • Great Southern Road, Southbound - from Holburn Roundabout to Riverside Drive (Whinhill Roundabout will be right turn only from Whinhill Road) 
  • Allenvale Road - from Allenvale Gardens to Great Southern Road 
  • Riverside Drive - from Polmuir Road to Great Southern Road 
  • Polmuir Road, from its junction with Ferryhill Road except for traders
  • Ferryhill Place, from its junction with Ferryhill Road 
  • Abbotsford Place, from its junction with Ferryhill Road 
  • South Crown Street, from its junction with Ferryhill Road/Millburn Street 
  • Prospect Terrace, from its junction with Millburn Street 
  • Bank Street at its junction with South College Street 
  • Riverside Drive at South College Street 

The following No Waiting restrictions will be in place from 20:00 on 22 June until 19:00 on 24 June: 

  • Riverside Drive - Polmuir Road to Riverside Place
  • Great Southern Road - Riverside Drive to Whinhill Roundabout (both sides) 
  • Allenvale Road - both sides from Allenvale Gardens to Great Southern Road 
  • Polmuir Road, from Riverside Drive to Polmuir Avenue (south side only) 
  • Whinhill Road, with the exception of emergency vehicles (east side only) 
  • Union Terrace 

Blue Badge Parking will be available on a first come first serve basis on Allenvale Road from 08:00am on the day. From here there is a short walk along public footpaths to the event site. 

To get to Allenvale Road, drivers are advised to approach from the North of the City (using the AWPR if coming from the South), heading to Holburn Street and Crathie Terrace, which leads to Allenvale Road.

At Allenvale Road you will be required to show your blue badge to the steward, who will then direct you where to park. 

Please note, there is no overnight parking permitted, and no access prior to 08:00 on the morning of the event.

Accessible toilets will be available on-site, and within the Park Cafe. 

Wheelchair users will also be able to easily access the event as the Duthie Park is on level ground, most of which is concrete. A raised platform will also be in place around the arena.
