Armed Forces Day 2019

Armed Forced Day Parade

Saturday 29 June 2019

Parade: 11.00am, Union Street

Watch the impressive parade of serving military men and women, veteran associations, cadet and youth organisations accompanied by local pipe bands march down Union Street towards the finish at the Castlegate.

The parade is a celebration of the history and proud record of the armed forces and allows the people of Aberdeen to show their respect for the role they play within our society.

If you are connected to the armed forces (serving personnel, veteran, cadet, TA or a war widow) and would like to become involved in our armed forces day please contact us.

Design a Flag Competition

Local group the 47th Aberdeen Girl Guides will give out 2,000 free hand-held flags for the public to wave. Seven-year-old Kitty Fraser, a P3 pupil at Kirkhill Primary School will have her design printed on one side of the flag as her artwork won the design competition as part of the build-up to Armed Forces Day.

Prizes were also awarded to Aleksandra Wieczorek, also from Kirkhill Primary School, and Tanish Kirodian of Robert Gordon’s College. All prize winners received a family pass to the Gordon Highlanders Museum and Hobbycraft vouchers.

Crowds show their support by waving these flags as military service men and women, veterans, cadets and youth organisation march down Union Street accompanied by local pipe bands.

Armed Forces Day acknowledges everyone in the Army, RAF, Navy and other associations who are bravely serving their country. It also gives us the chance to remember those who have lost their lives in wars all around the world.
