Opportunities for All
Opportunities for All guarantees a place in education or training for all young people between 16 and 19 years old.
In Aberdeen City, the Integrated Children's Services achieving outcome group lead on implementing Opportunities for All. This is a partnership group involving Aberdeen City Council Education and Childrens Services, North East Scotland College, ACVO, Job Centre Plus, Skill Development Scotland and third sector organisations.
Partners have collaborated to produce the Aberdeen Youth Employment Activity Plan to profile the range of opportunities in the city for young people who are between 16 and 25 years old and who require extra support to progress into further education, employment or training. You can download a copy of the plan below:
Young people who are between 16 and 19 years old and who need more individual support after leaving formal education may be considered for an activity agreement.
An activity agreement is an agreement between a young person and an advisor that the young person will take part in a programme of learning and activity which helps them to become ready for formal learning, employment or training. The young person may receive an allowance in return for complying with this agreement.
Each agreement is based on the young person's interests. Young people have engaged in a range of activities which help to increase their confidence, motivation and employability. These activities have included outdoor education, extreme sports, literacy tuition, PC classes, creative arts sessions, dance, drama, digital media sessions, horse riding, ice skating, skiing, music workshops and participation in a range of work placements in garages, shops, and with Council services such as Park Rangers or nurseries.
