The Reuse Shop

The Reuse Shop is located at Hazlehead Household Waste and Recycling Centre and is open seven days a week. The shop sells pre-loved items, diverted from our recycling centres at reasonable costs. Diverting items for reuse, rather than recycling or going to waste, helps keep them in use for longer, and reduces carbon emissions. The Reuse Shop diverts over 100 tonnes of items from the waste stream a year.

The opening times for the shop are:

Summer hours (from 30 March 2025)

Monday – Sunday 10am to 5pm

Winter hours (from 26 October 2025)

Monday – Sunday 10am to 4pm

Closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day

The Reuse Shop is operated by SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK in partnership with the Council.
For buying and dropping off items, the shop is open to residents of Aberdeen only so you will need to bring proof of address, either in paper or electronic form. Access is available by car, bike or for walk-ups.
Residents can drop-off their pre-loved items at Hazlehead HWRC. Items should be clean and in working order. The following items are currently accepted:

  • Bikes (new scheme being piloted)
  • Children’s toys and equipment

Bike Hub

The Bike Hub at the Reuse Shop sells refurbished bikes, diverted from our recycling centres. The hub is a collaboration with Stella’s Voice, CycleHub.Org, and SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK. The scheme sees unwanted bikes delivered to a local workshop where qualified mechanics repair and safety test bikes to ensure they are roadworthy before they are sold at the shop.

Free Paint

Tins of paint, diverted from our recycling centres, are available for free at the Reuse Shop. A charity tin is available at the counter and donations are welcome from customers collecting paint.

Reuse Community Fund

The Reuse Community Fund, administered by SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK, uses funds raised through sales from the Reuse Shop to support schools and community groups to make environmental improvements, in support of social value, health and wellbeing, for the benefit of the wider community.
