responsible business event 2022

Aberdeen Responsible Business event 2022

Community Planning Aberdeen is holding its annual Aberdeen responsible business event in partnership with Business in the Community (BITC).

The theme of the event will be surrounding the cost-of-living crisis and ways businesses can get involved in supporting communities and people within Aberdeen.

Established in 2020 with just two founding business partners, the Aberdeen Responsible Business network has grown to 191 members and 21 actively engaged Responsible Business Partners.

Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader, Councillor Alex Nicoll, said: “I am so pleased that the event is taking place in person for the first time in 3 years.

“Aberdeen Responsible Business event provides a fantastic opportunity for businesses to come together and learn from one and other. We know first hand the vital role that businesses, small and large, can play in responding to crisis in the short and longer term. We urge anyone interested to sign up to attend.”

The event will provide an opportunity for the business  community to contribute corporate social responsibility efforts towards lasting, transformational change by working with Community Planning Aberdeen to deliver the City’s Local Outcome Improvement Plan (LOIP).

Louisa Macdonell, Business in the Community Scotland Director, said: “With one in 10 people living in Scotland saying that they will need to rely on food and warm banks over the next six months, organisations need to ensure that they understand how they can support their employees, customers, suppliers and communities right now. The cost-of-living crisis is causing worry and stress for people across the UK and Responsible Businesses can help by paying the Real Living Wage, offering flexible working options, targeting support for their customers and watching out for their employees on lower incomes who may be struggling to make ends meet.”

The format of the day will include discussions from keynote speakers and workshops aimed at offering attendees:

  • A deeper understanding about the issues impacting the City and how business can help,
  • An opportunity to hear what other members are doing or are planning to do,
  • The opportunity to share challenges and opportunities,
  • Time for networking and collaboration.

The event will also launch Living wage week in Aberdeen. It is the annual celebration of the Living Wage movement across the UK and will take place 14th to the 20th of November 2022.

Aberdeen City Council spokesperson on anti-poverty and inequality matters, including the Real Living Wage, Councillor Christian Allard, said: “I am delighted to see the launch of the Real Living Wage action plan in Aberdeen.

This is a huge step in the right direction for the city and supports the workforce of Aberdeen having to face today’s cost of living crisis.”

The Responsible Business Event will take place Monday the 14th of November, 9.30am at the Beach Ballroom. To find out more and book your space visit: CSR Event 2022 - Community Planning Aberdeen
