Libraries are a really good place to find help with your homework. We have books for you to borrow on lots of different topics and also reference books to use in the library. Library staff are always happy to help.

Revision guides and past papers are also available to borrow to help with National 5 exam revision.

Online resources

Library members can access a number of online resources that we subscribe to. These services are available for free 24 hours a day from home, or from the library computers during normal opening hours. All you need is your library membership card number and your PIN. To access just click on the logo or link.

Britannica Online (Student Edition) is aimed at 12 to 18 year olds. You can browse it by subject or use the search box for more specific searches.

Issues Online provides a safe, reliable place to explore today's most important social issues. It contains hundreds of articles, infographics, videos, assignment ideas and e-books on topics ranging from human rights and domestic violence to drugs and alcohol.

Don't take our word on this though! One of our Duke of Edinburgh's Award volunteers researched the Issues Online database for other young people and told us the following.

Issues Online is a great resource which is stacked full of information.  The website has tons of facts and statistics covering a wide variety of subjects, from war to social media.  It is really easy to use and has a simple straightforward layout so you can find whatever you’re looking for with just a few clicks of a button.  Issues online give you access to thousands of articles, with each one looking at a different part or aspect of the topic you are reading about.  Issues Online can be used by anyone, whether it be kids or adults, for anything, like school or even personal use.

Oxford Music Online offer users the chance to explore Grove Music and many other works to discover detail on the music industry; including record labels, performers and the many different genres of music from early roots to the modern era.

Oxford Reference Online is a collection of reference works which includes encyclopedias, subject dictionaries and language dictionaries from the publishing stable of Oxford University Press.

SCRAN is an award-winning learning website with over 360,000 images, videos and sounds from museums, galleries and archives. It covers a wide range of subjects including local history, architecture, fashion and much more.
