During these very hands-on sessions, children aged 7-11 years will work together to build and program travelling robots using the Lego Wedo 2.0 kit and Scratch software. They will gain a robust understanding of how they may build a variety of mechanisms using spur gears, bevel and semi-bevel gears, and worm gears! Mechanisms include driving robots, two-legged walkers, four-legged-walkers, and a worm-geared crawler. They will also have the opportunity to customise their robots.
Each session is split into two parts with the first focusing on the mechanism(s) and the other on programming. During the second half, we will explore the Scratch software including linear and looped code, conditional statements, and parallel programming. Children will also get their on-screen animations in Scratch to interact with the robot. That's another dimension in robotics!
Dates: Weekly from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, from 26 August to 16 September 2018.
Cost covers all eight hours of robotics.
