Scottish author Mary Smith wanted to be a writer from an early age but assumed it wasn’t a career choice for people like her so she went off and did other things. She worked in a bank and via a circuitous route became a health worker in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Wanting others to share her life-changing experiences, she wrote about them: fiction, non-fiction, poetry and journalism.
