This month the Stroke Association is calling on people to wear purple and raise funds to support its ‘Go Purple for Pounds’ activity as part of Make May Purple.
Stroke is Scotland’s third biggest killer and a leading cause of disability. Most of us know somebody who has had a stroke and will know about its devastating impact.
Stroke survivors need your support to help them get back to life after stroke and that’s why we would love you to get involved this May.
The charity suggests choosing an activity you enjoy such as a purple bake sale, sponsored walk or simply painting your nails purple. Anything goes! The money raised through Make May Purple for Stroke will enable the charity to support many more stroke survivors regain their independence.
The Stroke Association raises awareness, funds research and provides information and support to help support stroke survivors and their families. We can only do this through the generosity of people like you. So please join us this May in wearing purple for pounds to raise awareness of stroke and raise funds.
I am available for talks at schools, societies, clubs and businesses on the subject of stroke prevention and stroke survival – if you wish me to attend your meeting, please get in touch. I will be trained on Know Your Own Blood Pressure soon so can offer information to people on their blood pressure and stroke prevention.
