Social enterprise is a global phenomenon, in which Scotland is widely recognised as leading the world. It’s a philosophy rather than a business model, a vehicle for achieving social and environmental change. It’s a paradigm shift for civil society. Social enterprises are increasingly connected, ordinary people in diverse cultures, inspiring and enabling eachother. At the heart of this global movement is the Edinburgh and Inverness based Social Enterprise Academy, which is empowering social enterprise leaders on five continents. David Bryan, who manages Social Enterprise Academy’s programmes in the Highlands & islands as well as some of the international programmes, will be speaking about the role of social enterprise nationally and globally and the unique role this Scottish social enterprise is playing.
