Details

Crime novelist and retired police officer Peter Ritchie’s books follow the stories of fictional detective Superintendent Grace Macallan. The plight of sex workers and trafficked women features throughout the stories. With statistics in recent years showing Aberdeen as uncovering more brothels than any other Scottish city – trafficking is not just a theme in fiction but a reality in our city.
Peter will join us to talk about his considerable real experience of this subject and how he has incorporated it into his writing. Peter started his career working in the fishing industry before moving into the Police which saw him work on a number of high profile cases with the Serious Crime Squad, Murder Squad and Regional Crime Squad in Scotland, the Organised Crime Unit in the National Criminal Intelligence Service and Europol.
The talk will be followed by a Q&A session, book signing and a selection on Peter’s titles will be available to purchase on the night. The event has been organised in partnership with the modern slavery charity City Hearts Aberdeen.
