Session aims:

  • Consider what a “child” is under legislation and impact for those in conflict with the law
  • Brain maturation for our children in conflict with the law – an introduction
  • Why some children more likely to be in conflict with the law than others
  • Importance of language and trauma informed/responsive approaches to children in conflict with the law
  • Increase awareness of key stages in the justice system for workers and actions to take
  • Consider children's rights and how we maintain these throughout a child's journey
  • How we can ensure children in conflict with the law have rights respecting contact with the justice system
  • Share resources available for working with children in conflict with the law
