Adult Support and Protection Core Training – Level Two Specialist Workforce Training
This training is delivered via MS Teams and is for professionals working for Aberdeen City Council and for services within Aberdeen City who have 15 staff of less, who as part of their regular role are involved in adult protection activities. This includes those who have management responsibility within the health and social care sector for staff involved in adult protection work.
This training will allow you to:
· Consolidate the importance of Trauma Informed Practice, Person Centred approaches and Professional Curiosity – foundation stones of ASP work
· Understand different types of harm and how to identify when harm might be occurring
· Know when, how and what to refer
· Have an awareness of the wider processes and what happens after you make a referral
· Have a knowledge of other routes of support
· Understand the role of Police in ASP
Have an awareness of what to do it something goes wrong
· Develop the ability to reflect on practice and identify situations that may need to be escalated or formally reviewed
The training will include input from colleagues in Police Scotland, Aberdeen Advocacy Services and Aberdeen City Legal Team, and will include a mixture of presentations and group exercises.
There is an expectation that in order to keep your skills and knowledge up-to-date in this area that you undertake this training no less than every 3 years. It is your responsibility to ensure that you keep a record of when you have completed this training so you can keep up-to-date with your refreshers.
