Linx Ice Arena

The Linx Ice Arena is one of Scotland’s premier ice rinks. It was first opened for public use on 1st February 1992 and operates everyday of the year except Christmas and New Years day (Subject to yearly changes). In March 2008 the ice arena closed to allow a major refurbishment to be carried out. The Linx Ice Arena re-opened in December 2009 and hosted the European Curling Championships.

The Linx Ice Arena facilities consist of a national sized ice pad measuring 56 x 26 metres, with spectator seating capacity for 1,118 spectators. A cafeteria operates within the facility during Thursday and Friday evenings and at weekends.

The ice arena hosts various ice sports user groups and includes the Aberdeen Ice Hockey Club (Junior and Senior levels), Aberdeen Linx Figure Skating Club, Synchro Skating Club, Speed Skating Club, General Public Skating sessions and the National Ice Skating Association (NISA) Skate UK – Learn to Skate Programme. Please contact the reception for further details on any of the clubs that use the facility or the Learn to Skate programme. The Ice Arena also has a Friday evening Disco session aimed at 12 years and over where a live DJ performs with an excellent disco lighting and sound system.

There are currently six ice professionals who work out of the Linx Ice Arena. They provide the tuition given in our Learn to Skate programme and also offer individual tuition. The building also boasts two General Purpose rooms, which can cater for anything from small business meetings to full blown conferences.

Car parking facilities are available at both front and rear of the building allowing easy access to the premises Other facilities available include: Ice pad, Café, Skate sharpening service, Occasional bar, In-line skate hire.
